This Friday, February 5, the First Friday Book Club will be discussing the movie “Argo.”
Do you remember the Iran Hostage Crisis that lasted 444 days, as Walter Cronkite reminded us every evening, from November 1979 to January 1981?
Many people had not been aware that six American diplomats escaped the capture, and were hidden in the home of a Canadian diplomat under the formal protection of the Canadian Ambassador.
The movie “Argo” is about those six Americans and their Canadian benefactors – a compelling, often frightening, ultimately exhilarating story.
If you have not done so already, be sure to check out the DVD of “Argo” from the library, and come to the Outreach Center this Friday prepared to discuss this amazing footnote in history.
